Two incubators in the Portland area house the next generation of successful businesses. The Portland Business Accelerator is an incubator created by Portland State University. The Open Technology Business Center (OTBC) in Beaverton is home to companies and individuals focused on open technologies.
12/13/2005 Employer Workforce Training Fund Provides $66,000 Training Grant to Coaxis, Inc. By Nancy Davis, project manager, Worksystems, Inc.
Grants from the Employer Workforce Training Fund help local software developer provide training for software engineers, application developers, technical support technicians and IT technicians. The SAO will survey member companies to identify a range of training needs, and develop an application for a training grant on behalf of the membership.

10/25/2005 Google Supports Open Source Initiatives Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski announced at a press conference this morning a $350,000 contribution from Google to a joint open source technology initiative of Oregon State University and Portland State University. With the grant, the universities will collaborate to encourage open source software and hardware development, develop academic curricula and provide computing infrastructure to open source projects worldwide.
City of Portland Proposes to Create a Citywide Wireless Network In 2005-06 the City of Portland, Portland Public Schools (PPS) and TriMet are collaborating through to sponsor the development of a Citywide wireless network (Unwire Portland) to promote economic and public benefits for community, business and government use.
