Operation Silverwing: Jobshadowing for Oregon's National Guardsmen

You are formally invited for our kickoff event for the Operation SilverWing Program.

The goal of this program is to make the ask to the entire Oregon Business Community to open their doors and offer a Job Shadowing/Mentoring opportunity to an Oregon National Guardsmen. As you may remember, 2700 troops just returned home and 51% are unemployed. The Job Shadow/Mentor program offers the guardsmen exposure to possible new careers based on their interests and skill sets. The ask to Oregon Businesses is to provide 1 day (whether it’s 1 soldier a week/month) to a soldier to ‘shadow’ an individual within your corporation/organization, providing insight to possible career tracks they are interested in.

We have built a large profile database of these soldiers which allows us to match-make the interests/skill sets with businesses who sign up to offer this experience. There are no requirements or promises of employment regarding the job shadow/mentor program, just the promise of a positive experience and exposure to a possible new career path.

This launch event will be attended by Governor Kulongoski, Senator’s Wyden and Merkley and the top ONG Generals.

This program will not have just Oregon implications to better our community, but, also, NATIONAL/FEDERAL. With both Senator’s personal involvement, they will be using our Oregon Program and the success stories as THE Model to showcase in Washington DC and the President as how support for our troops can be accomplished in every community (all 50 states). This is a high-profile opportunity for the State of Oregon and every business who participates.

Please support this very important SAO Initiative any way possible and feel free invite anyone in the business community and help us rally the business troops to support the ONG and the Oregon Community.

Register below to sign up your organization to provide a Job Shadow/Mentor opportunity and to attend this event. If you cannot attend, we encourage you to send a representative from your company.

Sincerely,
Matt Nees, President
