PSU Surveys Engineering and Computer Science Needs
By Shelly Rude, market specialist, School of Extended Studies
Portland State University has grown up along with the Portland metro-area business community. To support continued growth, the school is exploring expanding offerings in Washington County that are tailored to meet the needs of the burgeoning engineering and computer science businesses in that area. With diverse subject areas within engineering and many methods of delivering education, PSU is performing due diligence on both the relevance and convenience of future educational offerings for this audience.
The Maseeh College of Engineering has high national rankings and a history of educating a large number of industry employees in Washington County. The school has embarked on a research project to determine the best delivery system for contemporary issues in engineering and computer science in the Washington County area. Together with the School of Extended Studies, which provides continuing education options to a variety of students and professionals, the Maseeh College has enlisted Eduventures, LLC, to develop a survey for gathering input from technology professionals there.
Eduventures is a learning collaborative that has been developing research services for education providers through annual membership programs and consulting services for nearly fifteen years, using the Internet as a fast, accurate way to gather and compile information for clients. Portland State University teamed up with Eduventures in 2005. Research gathered by Eduventures has been cited in the Wall Street Journal and Chronicle of Higher Education, among other widely read publications.
Portland State University’s commitment to serving the needs of the Portland community is illustrated by its effort to build programs based on what practitioners and business leaders require from a quality educational institution. The study will be running over the next several weeks. If you would like to participate, please proceed to our survey.
