The Software Association of Oregon Foundation Receives Grant from Intel

The Software Association of Oregon Foundation (SAO Foundation) is pleased to announce receipt of a $10,000 contribution from Intel for the SuperQuest program. SuperQuest supports excellence in K-12 technology education by providing teachers the technology training, tools and support they need through intensive, hands-on summer workshops in computer science, information technology, pre-engineering and programming topics.

Said Andrew Shakman, Chair of the SAO Foundation Board: “We appreciate Intel’s support of SuperQuest and are very excited by their involvement with the SAO Foundation. Together, we share a commitment to awakening an interest in technology among Oregon youth and an understanding that supporting and growing our technology educators is one of the most effective ways to reach young minds.”

Through the generosity of supporters like Intel, the SAO Foundation is able to subsidize the cost of SuperQuest for Oregon and SW Washington teachers. In 2005 80 teachers participated in a total of 450 days of training and impacted an estimated 7,500 students; Intel’s grant will help the SAO Foundation offer SuperQuest 2006 to an estimated 100 teachers.

The Software Association of Oregon Foundation (SAO Foundation) is a 501c3 non-profit founded in 2003 to support technology in K-12 education through investing in teachers and programs that awaken a passion for technology among students.
